With the increasing of society's electricity demand, the electricity supply business enterprise more and more need to be able to effectively control and monitoring the user's ammeters. At present, the automatic ammeter reading technology mainly divided into two categories: wired and wireless. Because of the cable automatic ammeter reading technical complex installation, higher maintenance cost, and small coverage, the automatic ammeter reading wireless technology has been paid more and more attention. This paper studied the ammeter monitoring technology based on wireless sensor networks.To realize wireless monitor and control of the existing electric ammeter, this paper designed a kind of wireless monitoring device based on wireless sensor networks for ammeter. This device included microcontroller, wireless transceiver, infrared sensors, power conversion module and power supply switch. It connected to ammeter by UART interface or pulse interface to get ammeter's real-time data. to get a better preformance of B-MAC protocol, this paper designed B-MAC++ protocol, it aimed to lower the send node's energy consumption; it introduced a kind of CSMA/TDMA mechanism to alleviate funnel effect, and reduced the sink node's packet loss. Through simulations and experiments, B-MAC++ protocol performs better than B-MAC protocol in energy consumption and packet loss rate. In basis of solving the key problems before, this thesis designed a monitoring systems for ammeters based on wireless sensor networks (WSN-Based Monitoring Systems for Ammeters, WBMSA). This system was consist of the building-WSN and the community wireless monitoring center. The building-WSN included use's ammeters, ammeter wireless monitoring devices and building-sink node; the community monitoring center included center sink node and monitoring host. The WBMSA had the functions of real-time monitoring, remote control and prevneting electrcity-stolen. At last, the result of this system's test showed that it could effectively achieve the goal of real-time monitoring and control ammeter.
