With the fast development of space technology, there are more than five thousand flight vehicles in the cosmic space nowadays such as satellites, space shuttles and space stations, in which more and more experiments are carried. As the most widely used image sensor and the representative of current advanced mainstream technologies, CCD(Charge Couple Device) is the primary method to acquire these image data.Space experimental equipment have to endure harsh environments such as space radiation, so electronic components must meet the aerospace requirements. Unfortunately, there is not any aerospace grade CCDs in our country at present and developed countries have strict restrictions policy on CCD export. Industrial grade CCDs and scientific grade CCDs are mainly applied to carry space experiments. To meet the requirements of more and more space scientific experiments of our country, sub-standard chip must be minimized to design CCD cameras which have higher security and stability.Based on the principle of CCD and aerospace grade components that can be acquired, a new method to design CCD camera system is proposed in this thesis. FPGA is used as a core to build peripheral drive circuit of CCD which is widely applied in space experiments. The method to process CCD output signal is discussed such as noise removal, Correlated double sampling and AD conversion. As a representative CCD, ICX205AK is selected in this thesis. Instead of its special drive chip, FPGA is used to design and conducted a rounded system of CCD camera. At last a photograph is obtained and displayed on the screen to verify the realizability of this design methodology.
