China Aluminum Corporation Shandong Aluminum of the second plant use Bayer process to exteact alumina from alumyte and discharge polluting waste-Bayer red mud. The main mineral component is hematite, alumogoethite, hydrated alumina, followed by anatase, sodium aluminosilicate, quartz, calcium carbonate, etc.; particle diameter is0.026mm,-325content is96.69, average grain size is31.375μm; water ratio is28%, volume weight is0.9, PH value of percolate is11.78.Study upon properties Bayer red mud and Bayer red mud foamed concrete block, exploring the influence of properties in Bayer red mud foam concrete block, such as red mud particle size, the addition of red mud, cement type, water cement ratio, foaming agent types, strength increasing rule and so on. According to the JC/T1062-2007"foam concrete block" requirements to explore the optimum mixture ratio. It also presents the systematic study on Bayer red mud foam concrete preparing process, dry apparent density, compressive strength, thermal conductivity, coefficient of softening and water absorption, linear shrinkage, frost resistance, hydration process and mechanism. The results of research show that, the dry apparent density of foam concrete made by the Bayer red mud at800-1200kg/m3can reach the standard JC/T1062-2007dentisity grade, strength grade, water absorption, thermal conductivity and volume density. At the1000-1200kg/m3dry apparent density of foam concrete can be achieved the frost resistance standard of hot summer with cold winter.Using XRD, XRF, SEM and other means of testing, to measure microstructure of red mud foamed concrete, the principle of alkali activated between red mud and blast furnace slag and hydration principle of red mud concrete. Determine the optimum mixed amount of red mud and the optimum mixture ratio, and to explore solving way of the red mud foam concrete blocks efflorescence problem.Studies show that using the Bayer red mud, blast furnace slag, cement, foaming agent and other materials can prepara foamed concrete block which performance can meet the requirements of B10density rate in JC/T1062-2007standard and the middle strength of A3.5.
