| This paper takes the evolution of modern city parks in Shanghai as its research object. It focuses on the period from the founding of the P.R.C to the Reform and Open Policy. Because of subject development and historical causes, the research on the evolution of city parks in this period didn't catch people's enough attention, and so becomes the vacancy in the garden history of Shanghai.The research takes the historical archives as the main material, and uses the fundamental research analysis, to investigate and study on the spot, methods and comparative analysis. It takes the different time's city parks in Shanghai as the principal, and the evolution of city parks as the master line. The vicissitude of Shanghai city parks was reviewed and reappeared in this special historical period, in order to promulgate its characters and objective laws of development and seek the development direction for the Shanghai modern city parks in the future.The significance of the thesis: Shanghai modern city park (1949-4978) is studied in this paper, the accumulation of a certain amount of data can provide a basis for academic research; and clarify the characteristics and level, as well as the development of specific laws of the Shanghai modern city park, improve the landscape of the study of history in a certain significance; and explore the framework for theoretical studies and further research on Shanghai and even China modern city park in the future.The main innovation points:â‘ The comprehensive study on Shanghai modern city parks (1949-1978) has been carried out; analyzes the characters, function and development of the parks and explores the influence and significance of the city parks of the 30 years for the construction of parks nowdays and even in the future;â‘¡The study restores the Shanghai modern city park style based on file materials;The main conclusions are:â‘ . The constraints may be on the design ideas, construction skills of landscape, characters or function.â‘¡The Chinese classical garden culture, design ideas of concession gargens in modern Shanghai, or the design theory of Soviet park of culture and rest influence the design ideas of Shanghai modern city parks in some ways under specified conditions. Combining these design theories with China's actual conditions will build the foundation for creating Chinese characteristical design throries in the development of Shanghai modern city parks.â‘¢The construction skills of landscape of the Shanghai modern city parks (1949-1978) base on the tradition and change over time with the development of science and the difference of ideas and functions. â‘£The local style of Shanghai modern city parks inherits the construction skills and styles of modern Shanghai gardens and then develops by the way of innovation and practice after liberation.The main shortcomings:Limited to the time and ability, the study of Shanghai modern city parks (1949-1978) in this paper is preliminary stages, and some details need more in-depth research.
