Concrete block has become the main wall materials in China, because of its function of load-bearing and decorative. In order to meet the requirements of residential energy-saving standards, composite block with efficient insulation material should be used on the external wall. Howere there are variety shortcomings with thermal insulation blocks:(1) Low insulation performance, high cost,(2) Poor fire resistance,(3) Interface bonding strength of two materials is low,(4) Tow sides of the concrete is easy to crack and water is easy to enter into the center insulation materials, which lead to the reduction of its insulation properties,(5) Insulation material technology is not mature; it is difficult to synchronize with the construction life.In this paper, a new type of composite insulation block is designed to solve the above shortcomings—aerated concrete composite sandwich insulation block. This block uses aerated concrete as the central insulation material, two lateral sides is specialty concrete. In this paper, with the experimental method, insulation performance, drying shrinkage performance, compressive strength, shear strength and interface bond strength are analyzed to demonstrate its feasibility. Compared with the other composite insulation block, this block has the following advantages:(1) High strength, good insulation performance, strong fire-resistant properties,(2) Interface bond strength of two materials is high, because two kinds of material are both cement-based,(3) Aerated concrete synchronizes with the construction life,costs after the completion are reduced,(4) The most important feature of the special concrete is its low shrinkage- rate, which prevent the concrete cracking and protect the center insulation materials,(5) Low costs. The price of this block is 130-167 Yuan per cubic meter, and the price of polystyrene composite block is 238 Yuan per cubic meter, and the price of lightweight ceramic composite insulation block is 245 Yuan per cubic meter;(6) Easy to construct, and easy to change the size according to different requirements;(7) This aerated concrete composite block is applying for patents.
