With the substantial increase of highway density and the continuous rise of highway mileage, some related research on the highway alignment is increasingly comprehensive. In recent years, people gradually change their research field from the freeway and other less level highway of developed areas to highway of the Western poor areas. At present, the alignment design about deserts, mountains and forest highway have been researched, but the alignment of grassland highway hasn′t been studied. Highway alignment directly affects the landscape environment, Vehicle speed, drivers′comfort, transport efficiency and safety and so on. In grassland region, population density is low, changes of topography is small, landscape is monotonous,which result in the fact that the highway alignment and the drivers′psychological and physiological state are great differences between grassland highway and other highway. Drivers are principal part in the road traffic system and man-machine environment, but now current highway alignment design in china is still mainly based on automobile drivieong theory, drivers′needs with the physical characteristics and psychological are not fully considered. In this thesis, Based on drivers′physiological and psychological reactions, the alignment combination of grassland highway is researched. It is significant to improve and enrich the highway alignment design theory, improve and optimize the performance of the grassland highway , increase the level of grassland construction, to reduce the driver's mental stress and physical fatigue, and enhance road safety.In this dissertation, three grasslands in Inner Mongolia are selected. By surveying its adoption of various alignment index and combining with highway design documents and the actual analysis, the main alignment features of grassland is concluded.The number of straight of first and secondary grassland highway in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is large, which the number of is more than 1/2of the total highway mileage;The number of Horizontal Curve is small, the radii of horizontal curve is general great;The number of vertical curve radius is numerous, the match of Horizontal Curve and Vertical curve is unreasonable; The point of changing gradient in longitudinal section is large, most of longitudinal gradient is between 0% and 2%. The actual driving speed on grassland highway is faster than the design speed.A typical grassland highway is selected considering the grassland topography, landscape environment and alignment structural characteristics to conduct. Based on analyzing the physiological indicators, drivers′mental fatigue and visual fatigue are studied,and the relationship between the alignment index of grassland highway and drivers′physiological and psychological reflection also are reaserched. The conclusions are as follows Driving at design speed can easily result in drivers′mental fatigue and visual fatigue than at desired speed; Through researching on the relationship between horizontal curve radius of grassland highway and the drivers′Heart Rate Growth, it is proposed that Horizontal Curve radius of grassland highway is not less than 1000m; Bending slope of combination of curved section, Bending slope is definited as longitudinal gradient divided by Horizontal Curve of combination of curved section, is one of important factors which impacts drivers′psychological and Physiological, when the bending slope is higher than 7, the driver's Heart Rate Growth will appear remarkable increasing trend with the increase of bending slope.
