In recent years, light type hydraulic excavators play an important role in construction machinery with the rapid development of industry. The requirement for both the quantity and the performance of excavator has become increasingly higher. Due to work outside frequently, working environment is very abominable, so they are demanded reasonable structure, safe and reliable performance, as much as possible reducing cost.As the supported part of excavator enduring force, crawler system's performance can directly influence excavator's working performance, and its rational parameters have a significant role during new product development. Thereby, on the basis of crawler system's analysis of performance parameters in this paper, do statistics the parameters in detail and the related contrast, and summarize their theoretical calculation and relevant experience, provide reference for crawler system's designing.At present, if we take the traditional methods of design and research, we can't fit the high requirement for the globalization in the field of excavator, the intensification of competition, individuation of requirement for products and humanization of production. So all enterprises hope to study and design an all-purpose module, thereby reducing the developed periods of the produces and enhance the productive efficiency. In this paper the parameterized design is done aiming at the crawler system of light type hydraulic excavators. Aiming at the trait of the crawler system, the tool for the quadratic development of UG/OPEN and the programming language are used to do parameterized design for it so as to realize the auto generation of the parts. The analogical theory is used to decide the fundamental parameters and the language for the quadratic development of UG named GRIP is taken to build the models according as the model dimension of the 6t excavator. Then other tools for the quadratic development of UG are combined to design the User Interface. Finally, a module which can be loaded automatically named "the parameterized design for crawler system of light type hydraulic excavator" is built.In order to verify the correctness of the module, H and X shapes'under frames of 7t excavator with its auto generation are researched, by precise analyzing of force in two different situations, and FEM analysis used NX Nastran. The result indicates that design is safe, X shape under frame is more reliable.The parametric design for crawler system of light type hydraulic excavator is realized using the tool for the quadratic development of UG in the paper. The result and method have great significance in practice. They can enhance the developed efficiency, can reduce the times for the redesign, shorten the design periods and improve the quality and dependability of the produces.
