In recent years, with rapid economic development of China, the output and transportation of dangerous goods has been increasing year by year. The transportation of dangerous goods by road is a kind of special transportation which involving complex technology and high safety condition requirements; also the harmfulness and severity of dangerous goods transportation accident are far greater than the ordinary traffic accident. So, how to ensure the road transportation safety of dangerous goods, reduce accident risk, protect people's lives and property and social ecology environment has a practical significance. Practice has shown that analysis and assessment of the risk of transporting dangerous goods by road is a feasible way to reduce the transportation risk.First of all, the article starts with study of the domestic and international research statusquo on analysis and evaluation of risk of transporting dangerous goods by road.It discusses risk composition elements identification of transportation accidents in the system of "Human-Materials-Environment (H-R-M) " basing on system engineering theory. And on basis of analysis of single element, double elements and three elements coupling Causes-Results theory and existing theory, three-dimensional Orbit Intersecting Theory is put forward, and coupling Causes-Results model is established.A risk assessment model of dangerous goods road transportation is constructed from aspects of the probability and severity of accident of dangerous goods road transportation. Basing on the basic leakage accident probability during road transportation of different dangerous goods category, modification factor are introduced to modify the basic leakage accident probability and different damage effect probability under different leakage scale is determined among the accident probability model. In the accident consequence analysis, focus of the study is put upon the determination of accident affected area and analysis of the accident affected personnel. Finally individual risk assessment model, social risk assessment model and environmental risk assessment model are built basing upon the road transport of dangerous goods. And the models are all tested and verified by practical examples. Practice has shown that the model can commendably reflect the risk level of different routes.
