It is uncertain and difficult to predict that when and where the earthquake happens.High-intensity earthquake caused incalculable losses to human life and property, which is closely related to the earthquake response of the structures.The traditional anti-seismic techniques reduce the seismic action by the plastic deformation, but it can't solve the problem fundamentally. The isolation technology develops in this context.This paper briefly describes the theories about the seismic isolation, and focuses on a new isolation bearing-spherical-surfaced sliding metal isolation bearing.It's designed by Prof. Chen Qinglai of Shandong University dependently, which has good load-bearing capability, self-reset capability and durability. It effectively extends the self-vibration cycle, far from the predominant period of ground motion, to avoid resonance.So the upper structure moves overall,and is in flexible working state, which meets the increasing security requirements of modern structures.It should be replicated in actual projects widely.We obtained the vibration and strain data through a large-scale shaking table test of a 6 layer steel frame structure of 1:6 reduced scale, This paper processes the vibration data of the column in the northwest corner and the strain data of the side column in west through the MATLAB software.We draw the following conclusion by the analysis of its isolation from the peak acceleration, predominant energy and strain amplitude in the direction of X and Y:1.The peak accelerations of isolation condition change little with the story, while those of anti-seismic condition change greatly. In the direction of X and Y, the peak accelerations of isolation condition are less than those of anti-seismic condition, except for the 0 layer under the smaller earthquake.The maximum isolation rate is more than 70%, and the higher the degree of the earth, the better.2.From the perspective of predominant energy, the bearing has good isolation effect by the energy consumption, and the higher the degree of the earth, the better.3.From the perspective of strain amplitude, the isolation effect of the bearing is obvious in X direction. However, in Y direction the average strain and the strain amplitude of the isolation condition are both greater than the anti-seismic condition.
