With the development of automobile industry, the automation of forging equipment is increasing higher and higher. In order to fast feed and clamp die and realize automation of the stamping process, large multi-station presses are equipped with quick die change system. In the quick die change system, the main research issues are the clamping of the master die, and the sucker gripping piece at the end of the tooling. In the process of master die clamping, the general way of die clamping exist many deficiencies, such as the positioning accuracy to the master die, the clamping force, and work piece machining accuracy etc; when using a vacuum sucker at the end of the tooling, the sucker should directly contact with the work piece and do not forget to check the leak tightness. The sucker type at the end of the tooling should be changed accordingly as the change of work piece shape. The general clamping process of the press machine is complicated and is difficult to achieve the automation of the stamping process. According to the analysis, electronically controlled permanent magnet clamping can resolve both the problems of the clamping of master die and work piece.Through the theoretical analysis of the electromagnetic fields of the electronically controlled permanent magnet clamping, we get the feasibility of the method of electronically controlled permanent magnet clamping. According to the electronic control technology of Tecnomagnete Company and the electronic control magnet sucker structure of Damien Permanent Magnet Ltd. Analysis, through the analysis of the working principle of magnetization and demagnetization, we designed the pole structure, size and three-dimensional mathematical model and estimated that the clamping force provided is above 150 N/cm2.The key point of electronically controlled permanent magnet clamping is the analysis mode as well as experimental validation. Take the 1/2 of the magnet pole of the electronically controlled permanent magnet into ANSYS finite element analysis, and calculate 70×70 mm2 clamping force of the company Damien magnetic pole, focusing on the simulation of magnetization and demagnetization clamping force inside the 50×50 mm2 magnet pole as well as the magnetic induction of the Nd-Fe-B magnet and Al-Ni-Co magnet. Finally. analyze the factors influencing the electronically controlled permanent magnet clamping force, and establish the stiffness and strength under the load of electronically controlled permanent magnet sucker working model. As the limitation of experimental conditions, here we only make an indirect experimental testing to the electronic magnet chuck clamping force. According to the experimental test data of the Damien electronic control permanent magnetic sucker, and the analysis result which showed that the electronic control permanent magnet clamping force is up to 160 N/cm2, it is inferred that ANSYS electronic control permanent magnet clamping force is essentially correct and meet the clamping force requirements of 25,000 kN multi-station press quick die change system to the die and work piece.
