Fin stabilizer have gained successful applications in ship engineering, it is one of the most effective ship-stabilized equipments. Fin Stabilizer plays an important role in improving ship seaworthiness, giving a longer life for ship, ensuring equipments working better and members on comfort, advancing battle effectiveness of naval ship. Reduce ship rolling motion is an important subject of ship motion control.In this paper, fin stabilizer system is considered as an object of study.To improve system performance of fin stabilizer by PID control algorithm which is used in most applications'field. It gets a good stabilization effect. At the same time, the paper will make an intensive study of system by a visual simulation in the virtual reality environment.Firstly, The paper gives an approximation model of the long-crested and the short-crested waves from wave energy spectrum in the required simulation of ship rolling, then show simulation curses with the program.the paper analyzes force at the time of ship rolling. To ascertain the linear model of ship rolling by the roll motion characteristics; wave is the main reason for the ship rolling, so it according to the theory of random waves.Secondly, the paper focuses on the component elements of ship fin control system, including the system function of various parts, transfer function and the PID control law of the fin stabilizer, as well as the PID control simulation of the fin stabilizer system, including wave simulation, simulink block diagram of PID control and the simulation analysis of the results.Finally, the paper completed the simulation of fin stabilizer control system based on virtual reality technology, virtual instrumentation and simulink interface program which provides by MATLAB.The simulation contains virtual simulation of ships and waves, as well as the control system interface of fin stabilizer. It achieves simulation results of a good human-machine interaction.
