Intelligent buried cable trace detection system is a kind of important electronic devices, which is used for detecting the information of underground cable, and widely used in electricity, communication and other filed. This paper takes the buried cable trace detection system as the research object, proposed a multi-channel method for cable trace detection, which is based on the electromagnetic method and integrated signal processing, data acquisition, result displays in a system. The system takes the AVR MCU and FPGA as the logic control and data processing core, has designed the hardware system which is composed of signal acquisition module, MCU module, FPGA module, keyboard and display modules. The system has already completed the high-speed signal acquisition and the results of detection in real-time display.This paper describes the design process of the system completely. First, it introduces the theoretical basis of the electromagnetic method and the equivalent model of the buried cable, analyses and plans the system according to the actual demand and simulates each module, then fixes a whole scheme of the hardware. Secondly, the hardware circuit design, PCB board drawing, and the programming ideal of each module is introduced in detail. Finally, the problems encountered in debugging and its solutions are described briefly.
