Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) is an emerging information technology which transforms traditional transport systems by computer, embedded systems and so on. It achieves increased system operating efficiency and reduces energy consumption, etc. ITS development has a profound impact on the future world transport system. With technological development, miniaturization and low-power design are becoming increasingly important in intelligent transportation equipment. And high-definition cameras in many embedded systems play a important role.The paper has designed and implemented an FPGA-based hardware and software system of high-definition camera. On the hardware side, setting aside a interface in order to reduce cost, the system is divided into three parts. The first part is the front-end video acquisition card, including the SONY array CCD ICX406AQ as the image sensor, video processor CXD3408 as the driver and front-end A/D conversion chip; The second part is a board for the signal adapter, which is FPGA-minimum system board; The third part is the Virtex4-SX25 development board or the DM6467 development board. On the software side, first of all, because the image is Bayer format, it must be restored into a RGB color image. Here, we adopt the bilinear interpolation algorithm which can be implemented in FPGA; Secondly, through the datasheet, we write the driver program for the signal adapter, which configures the front-end video acquisition card, rightly transmits the signal from the first part to the third part.We design a flexible and efficient platform, which meets the request of real time, general-purpose, low power consumption and miniaturization. It has passed software and hardware testing and has applied value.
