Industrial camera is the core component of the machine vision system. With the development of social industrial, the image definition and performance of industrial camera become higher, followed by increasing power consumption and cost. The embedded technology of Post-PC era is widely used in machine vision.The embedded intelligent industrial cameras gradually emerged, which can used without computer. Its broad application prospects and market demand makes it become the research hotspot of machine vision.This paper analyzes the framework for embedded industrial camera system, several mainstream embedded solutions are compared. The choices of image sensor, high-definition display interface, image data storage are made. Ultimately, this article select FPGA and Ti DM365platform as industrial camera image acquisition processing core, and two MICRON CMOS is used as image sensor. We complete the hardware and software system design for these two embedded HD industrial camera based on system framework analysis.For the FPGA based embedded industrial camera design, the main work contain:1) using CycloneⅡ series FPGA chip as the core of the camera image acquisition and processing system, completing the design of FPGA core work circuit, external storage circuit, CMOS peripheral hardware circuit, system power circuit as well as DVI HD display circuit. completing the PCB design of core board and bottom board;2) for software design, we using SOPC technology, design a soft-core on chip system for HD image acquisition and display, the Avalon bus based image acquisition and display control interface IP core is designed;3) complete the designed of CFA interpolation, color space conversion, Sobel parallel processing these three image hard real-time preprocessing algorithm, which show the characteristics of FPGA parallel pipelined processing.After the debugging of hardware and software, the system can complete HD images real-time acquisition, storage and display with the resolution of1280×1024.DM365based embedded industrial camera design work include:1) the overall structural design of the hardware platform, the theory analysis and design of core processing circuit, video input and output circuit, and high-speed PCB board;2) the analysis of embedded Linux software development process, the construction of Da Vinci embedded development environment, the transplantation of bootloader and kernel;3) completing video acquisition and processing application design using Ti DM365SDK, which is based on V4L2video capture framework. After debugging, the system achieved local VGA high-definition video output, H264720p30fps HD encoding and RTSP streaming video transmission.
