Code for design of concrete structures GB50010-2002, building code requirements for structural concrete (ACI 318-08) and commentary, EN1992-1-1:2004 and design of concrete structures CSA A23.3-04 are selected, compared and studied to understand development of design theories and methods of concrete structures at home and abroad, analyze the gap between design level of concrete structure based on Chinese and developed countries' codes and provide a reference for revising code for design of concrete structures GB50010-2002.The main contents are summarized as follows:(1) Shear capacity for reinforced concrete membersThrough comparison and analysis of methods of calculating shear capacity for reinforced concrete members without and with web reinforcement, it is clear that various factors influence on shear capacity and methods of considering these factors in codes are used. By comparing safety level of shear capacity for domestic and international reinforced concrete members, overall safety level in these codes is known.(2) Punching shear capacity for reinforced concrete slabsComparative study is performed on punching shear capacity for slab-rectangular column connections in Chinese GB50010-2002, ACI 318-08 and EN1992-l-l:2004.Factors influencing on punching shear capacity are analyzed. it is clear that methods of shear capacity based on Chinse GB50010-2002 are different from those in ACI318-08 and EN1992-l-l:2004. Approximate methods of calculating equivalent designed shear force for slab- circular column connections are given by ways of circular column equivalent to square column. Factors of equivalent designed shear force are derived and are approach to factors given in EN1992-2004.(3) Torsion capacity for reinforced concrete membersComparative analysis of torsion capacity for pure torsion members based on these codes is made. By comparing safety level of torsion capacity for members, overall safety level in these codes is known.According to the area superposition method, equations of interaction curve of capacity for members subjected to shear-torsion and bending-torsion are derived. Interaction curves of shear and torsion capacity for members based on GB50010-2002, together with ACI318-08 and EN1992-1-1: 2004 are parabolic curves and approach to a quarter section of a circle. Interaction curves of bending and torsion capacity for members are also parabolic curves and approach with each other. A method of deriving minimum stirrup and reinforcement ratio of members subjected to shear-torsion is given. It is conclued that minimum stirrup and reinforcement ratio derived is much less than values specified by Code for design of concrete structures GB50010-2002.
