Although "Steel structure Design Standard"(GB50017-2003) and "High-level Civil construction Steel structure Design Regulations"(JGJ99-98) of our country has made the corresponding provisions to the design of steel embedded column base, because the research of force behavior for steel embedded column base was not enough systematic, therefore, the standard design stipulation mostly is the reference overseas concerned requirements proposes. These stipulation paired column base stress condition has made many hypotheses, has also contained the unreasonable ingredient. Usually in the situation, the computed result is in favor of conservative.Go ahead in this basis, this paper completed the experimental study of six embedded steel column base with different embedded depth and stud connectors under the monotonic load, the failure mode, load- deflection relationship, moment– curvature relationship, specially the bending capacity of different embedded depth and stud connectors, the function of stud connectors, the method of calculating reasonable depth was observed.This paper adopted nonlinear finite element method to simulate the whole loading process from test specimens provided by researchers. It can be obtained clearly that the result is accurately enough and can satisfy the demands of engineering. To investigate and discuss the bending resistance function comprehensively, this paper designed analytical samples of 140 embedded steel column bases. Some dominant parameters are analyzed on the influence of embedded depth ratio, stiffening rib, plate, stud connectors, concrete strength, and the width of concrete base.This article has drawn the following conclusions:(1) At shallow depth, while the embedded depth ratio is greater, the bending resistance of steel embedded column base is greater; when the embedded depth ratio is greater than 2.5, then increasing the embedded depth ratio is no apparent role.(2) Stiffening rib and plate's establishment has the obvious function for the bending resistance's enhancement.(3) Setting up stud connectors for steel embedded column base can improve the bending resistance; the bending resistance varies with layout of stud connectors, up close under the sparse structure of the arrangement than the norms required by the arrangement of space, such as more effective.(4) According to the trial bending moment, shear and combined with the embedded depth of the relationship between the norms of the recommendations put forward the formula of embedded depth.
