With the advantages of less investment, small floor area and so on, straddle-type monorail transportation is very suitable for our national conditions, and enters a fast development period at present in our country. To ensure the safe and stable operation of the monorail transit system, line overhaul and maintenance is another important measure besides of train service. With the background of the Chongqing rail transit line 3, this paper designed a special operation vehicle used on the inspection of track beams.The general situation of the development of monorail was introduced at the beginning of this paper, then gives out the operation characteristics of the monorail vehicle, then puts forward the research purpose, contents, theory and practical significance of this research.Vehicle belongs to complicated, large-scale engineering machinery, made a detailed analysis on the functional requirements by system view. Compared the advantages and disadvantages of every technical scheme, and finally determined the structure, driving, braking and electricity using scheme of this vehicle. Cars from the major components, completed the structure design of the under frame, carriage, maintenance table and driver's console, and then carried out the scheme design of the driveline, hydraulic system, walk system and braking system. Rational selected mainly purchased components, and determined these components can meet the function requirements of the vehicle by related calculation and check analysis.In addition, based on vehicle dynamics, tire mechanic principles, combined with the operating characteristics of monorail vehicles, this paper analyzed the resistance and load states in different work conditions of the vehicle, and then obtained the schedule of the resistance and load states in these conditions, which provided the digital basis for the dynamic calculations and the selection of the engine.By researching the sideward roll and head shaking, this paper established the lateral motion equations, which lays the foundation for the research of driving stability of vehicles. The last chapter gives the summary and prospect of the research.
