The production process of railway transportation is mainly implemented by making and executing train diagram. Train diagram is a graphical expression way of the connection between train running time and space realationship, and it is the train technique-text about running on sections, arrival-departure in stations or the passing time. It is also one of the key technical solutions to the railway transportation. The research on optimality theories and methods in passenger train diagram is favorable to the improvement of the passenger transportation organization and service level, since the improvement adapts to the objective requirement of railway leaping development.On the basis of reasearch on domestic and international train diagram optimality and adjustment theories, the paper studies the characteristics and the optimality methods in every stage of plotting passenger train diagram on double-track sections by computer, such as the departure time distribution, relaxation train diagram and conflict elimination, etc. First, from the perspectives of providing convenience for passenger trips, considering the relationship between passengers' travel purposes, consumption levels and conveniency degree of passenger trips, as well as the influence of train capacity on passenger flow distribution, we propose a bi-level programming model for optimizing the departure time distribution of passenger trains based on a multi-class user equilibrium and an optimal algorithm based on the simulated annealing algorithm, and thus we determine the departure time distribution of passenger trains. Secondly, on premise of meeting the departure time distribution of passenger trains, we build an optimal model for making passenger train diagram on double-track sections. Furthermore, we explore the method of using Hungarian algorithm to make relaxation train diagram, and also the method of applying two operations of moving running lines or enlarging the departure time domain between passenger trains to eliminate conflicts to optimize train diagram in circulation. In this process, an algorithm for making passenger train Diagram on double-track sections is also designed. Finally, the paper gives a example to analyze the process of drawing passenger train diagram on double-track sections by computer, which has achieved good effects and reflected the feasibility and efficiency of the optimality methods. The method of choosing the departure time distribution of passenger trains, Hungarian algorithm for making relaxation train diagram and the operation methods of eliminating conflicts provide some novel thoughts and solutions to improve the theoretical system of making train diagram by computer, which actually has significance both in theory and practice.
