Electric vehicle has the advantages such as energy efficiency and zero pollution. So it is the development direction for the car in the future. And the advanced, reliable communication network and information display device are the basis of electric vehicle control systems. It is of great significance to research and solve this problem. Specific to the need of electric cars development, the communication network of electric car based on CAN bus is studied in this thesis. And also LCD (liquid crystal display) system in bus type and its experiment platform applied to electric cars has been developed in reality. The purpose of controlling every kind of operating conditions of the car is achieved.Firstly, CAN Specification Version 2.0, in-vehicle network technology and SAE J1939 protocols, which are correlative to the in-vehicle electronic CAN network, are studied in this thesis; the key problem of CAN bus technique—bit timing is discussed in detail; a scheme is brought forward to develop the in-vehicle electric CAN network which includes selecting higher layer communication protocols, designing the general network architecture and laying out the developing course.Then the hardware and software of central signaling control system which is the core of the communication network is designed. It adopts DSP as controller which disposes the on-the-spot information that received by CAN bus from electric motor drive system, battery manage system and the service units in the car. It sends the disposed information and display commands to the TFT LCD (Thin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display) through serial communication.In the end, the communication and display experiment is completed. The LCD displays the velocity, mileage, warning and real-time messages such as battery power, dump energy and battery status in the battery management module. Circuits in every part of the system work basically stable. The design is reasonable and achieves the expected results of task. Motor meters have realized networking, digitization and intellectualization.
