Study Of The Space Form In Labrang Monastery

Tibetan Buddhist Monasteries include all of the science,culture,religion and art in Tibetan area for its special position of status in Tibetan society.Tibetan Buddhist Monasteries also are the center sites for political and religious activities in Tibetan area. They are the symbol of local culture which carrying Tibetan religious and cultural traditions with their unique space form.The Labrang Monastery is one of the six great monasteries of the Geluk Sect(the Yellow Sect) of the Tibetan Buddhism.It is located in Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture Gansu Province.It's the second batch of Key Cultural Heritage Unites under National protection in 1982 and it is also a centre of the Gelukpa sect of Tibetan Buddhism in the traditional Tibetan area of Amdo.Labrang Monastery possesses the special local characteristics,which is formed from the interaction of the distinct geography,religion and cultural background in Labrang area. Labrang Monastery is one of the important part of the Tibetan Buddhism historical and cultural heritage resources with its Unique space form with well-preserved Traditional feature.This paper is based on the analysis of the space theory at home and abroad.By the measure of architecture,survey,and the analysis of related literature,this thesis tries to find the influence factors and the rules of the organization of the space form of Labrang Monastery and provides theoretically basis for the restoration police to Labrang Monastery.Firstly,the thesis analysis the origins and evolution of the traditional architecture in Labrang Monastery.Secondly,it analysis the space shape of Labrang Monastery in the field of Lay-out and architecture.Then it analysis and generalizes all the factors that influence space shape of Labrang Monastery,which includes natural and geography environment,religious,technologic and material condition.At the end it analysis the unique space shape characteristic of Labrang Monastery from space structure,space Boundary-surface,space criterion and space nodes.
