Design Of POS Based On RF Communication

A new kind of POS will be discussed in the thesis,the POS employs RF communication method(in 2.4GHz band) between its base and handset,Frequency Hop and TDMA are applied to make the communication of the system robust,and the equipment also can handle the RF IC card to extend it's funcation.The handset can be moved freely,it can be very fit to be employed in restaurants,hotels and so on.In this design,the POS consists of a base and a handset(or several handsets),the function of handset is mainly in collection financial information which can be in magcard,in IC card or in RF IC card.The information of all kinds of cards is transmitted to the base and the handset receives the corresponding information from the base.The base transmits the information from the handset to the host computer of bank by Ethernet or PSTN,the information is processed by the computer in bank and transmited back,the base will transmits the corresponding information to the handset when it receives the information from the host computer and prints the dealing information if the dealing is successful.The functional module of the base and handset will be interpreted in detail including how to choose the main chips and design to achieve its funcation.The software of POS consists of driver and application,the dirver is related to the hardware and is mainly the program of the CPU controlling its peripheral components.The program of each funcational part usually has some entry parameters for application program,The application is related to the service funcation of the POS and based on the dirver.The driver of several funcational modules and application of some dealing process will be interpreted in detail such as the driver of RF communication,Key Scan,LCD display and the application of magcard and IC card.The communication speed between the base and handset can be up to 500Kb/s and the communication is stable and robust,so it can shorten the dealing time,with its new funcation which can deal with RF IC card,the new pos can be used in a more extensive field.
