A new handset that has broad applicability and user friendliness is needed urgently with the widely used ETC in China. The main operating system of the exsisting handset is WinCE and Linux in market. They are variance with the market and software. Meanwile the operating temperature is-10°C that limit their application in the north of China. Moreover, they can't also be used in gas station and the transportation of dangerous goods.A new type of handheld devices are designed based on the products status and market demand. It is redesigned in hardware, software and structure. Industrial grade dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor is used in the hardware platform that make operating temperature-20°C ~ 55 °C. The structure, circuit and PCB meet the Ex(ib) IIAT3 that make it used in explosion-proof environment. Android operating system is used on this handset in Software. A USP package is used above the Linux kernel is used in this software platform, which can be used to connect the application layer and the driver layer.The handset is designed in accordance with ideological platform products. It not only satisfy the intelligent transportation industry demand, but also create industrial-grade hardware platform. The integration of RFID software platform with Android system paved the way for the APP development. Development of new products gets easier based on this design.
