The drum level is an important monitor parameter on the safe operation of boiler in present. This paper concluded mathematical models of evaporation area in boiler in past papers. The subject investigated in our study was 300MW boiler of Xing Tai Power Plant in Hebei province. According to the characteristics of the evaporation area, a mathematical modeling based on mass and energy balance was developed under unsteady state. Calculated through C++ code, the dynamic characteristics of drum level caused by turbulence in boiler were emulated, and also the phenomenon of false water level was analyzed. Compared with the actual operating data, the simulated results could approximately reflect the actuality. From the research, the method of level control was proposed, and the conclusion has reference value for the safe operation and controlling of steam boiler.
