A Study On The Military Geography Of The Jiangxi Zone In The Six Dynasties

Jiangxi Province in the Six Dynasties Period was playing a pivotal role,the academic field usually sees the importance of the Jiangzhou but neglects the strategic position of the Jiangxi.In this paper,I will explore the geography and political and military relations and try to testify the Jiangzhou's status during the Southern Dynasties of keeping a balance on every state is actually the reproduction of Jiangxiduring the Period of the Three KingdomsSince the Jian'an era,Jiangxi Province has played an important role in history becuse of its important traffic and military position.After the operation of Sun Wu,the strategic position of Jiangxi was raised fleetly. In fact,the Jiangzhou's status during the Southern Dynasties of keeping a balance on every state is the reproduction of Jiangxiduring the Period of the Three Kingdoms.The successive rulers attach importance to Jiangzhou,especially after the establishment of Jiangzhou,hence Jiangxi's political,economic,and military power was restored and developed.In Jin Dynasty,the Yangtze River is a natural moat between North and South and divided China into two parts while Jiangxi Province is in the front line of defense of the Yangtze River and keeps a balance between the Jing state and Yang state.During Sui and Tang dynasties,the capital is not in Jiankang but in Changan,making Jiankang lose the political center. Jiangzhou,as a safeguard of Jiankang,its strategic position goes down as well.However,in the military history of the Six Dynasties,the strategic position of Jiangzhou is extremely important.After the Six Dynasties, the regimes with the capital in Nanjing,attached great importance to this strategic position.This paper,where materialism,system theory,cultural geography, regional economic geography are used as a guide,historical research and statistics the main methods,made a research on the military and geography issues in Jiangxi Province during the Six Dynasties' period.The first part describes the natural geography and kaiserdom, population,development of Jiangxi.The second part analyses the transportattion lines under the influence of geography and military situation.The third part researches a number of Jiangxi military sites and describes the relations between the political and military.Geographical environment restricts human activities,on the other hand human activities affect the geographical environmen and put people's brand on it.With the importance of the transportation and military,these military sites have developed rapidly.Partâ…£describes the stages of the formation and performance of the strategic position in Jiangxi Province.
