Garden plant is the primary element in the landscape design of residential districts. Based on relative plant landscape theories,much survey work in the field,and the collection of materials and literature,the paper give a classifying conclusion on various methods of green plant landscape in the residential districts of Xi'an.It includes different scenes of the central green,the green of near houses,the road green,and other space green,which pay close attention to the plant designs and plant landscape methods of these differing Scenes,and give emphases as well as conclusions on the plant landscape methods of each scene basically from ecological benefit,aesthetic view, building space and cultural connotation.Finally the paper obtains the conclusion of 15 typical plant landscape methods in the residential areas of Xi'an and 4 basic rules for plant design.On the basis of above study,the paper has a deep thinking on the problems of residential districts plant design in Xi'an,and puts forward proper counter measures and suggestions for the residential districts plant design in Xi'an.The paper is also hoped to become a source of reference for the residential districts plant design in Xi'an and other Northwestern cities.At last,ground on the theory study,the paper studies further on the practical cases of two residential districts called Mingde 8 Miles and Lijingxin Garden.The typical plant landscape methods,the deployment rules(People Oriented,Environmental Priority,Regional Features,Economical and Practical) and functions,which are summarized above,are fully used in the paper to achieve the aim that theory guides the practice.Ultimately,the design of plant landscaping working drawing is completed.
