Environmental adaptability of ships is the important index to evaluate the performance of the equipment on ships. Ships are advancing in high speed, it is necessary for ships to have higher performance of navigational safety under heavy sea. Many countries pay more attention to the study of environmental adaptability of the ship in real wave conditions. Now, not only theory but also the technology of the towing tank testing is not enough to do the work of ship environmental adaptability. The movement simulation testing of the ship model in real wave conditions is a good path to study the overall performance of ships in real wave conditions. The research which I carry out in this paper is as follows:1. I briefly introduce the theory of wave emulation, some wave analysis methods and some engineering applications.2. I give a general introduction about the system of the movement performance physical simulation testing of the ship model in real wave conditions and some equipments applications, introduce the testing methods, then I analysis the problems in the testing and give some improvement.3. Based on the testing wave data, I check the feasibility of wave emulation of testing of the ship model in real wave conditions.4. In the end, I analysis the movement performance of the ship model in real sea based on the movement data recorded in the testing, then I refer to result of the towing tank testing, analysis their difference, it validates the necessity of the movement performance physical simulation testing of the ship model in real wave conditions.
