Although nuclear energy is a safe source of energy, and the probability of the nuclear accident is very small, the United States Three Mile Island accident and the former Soviet Union's Chernobyl accident let the people recognize that the latency dangers of the current nuclear accident can not be completely eliminated. Marine reactor is deemed to a swimming nuclear power plant and it has the various latent factor of the nuclear accident. In addition, the environment of nuclear ships is narrow, and the equipment is complex, and the factor of vibration, those factors increase the possibility of a nuclear accident. Therefore the probability of the marine reactors nuclear accident is far greater than the probability of nuclear power plants accident. Therefore, the accident analysis of the marine reactor is very necessary.Although MELCOR is a powerful software, the physical model are usually complicated, and the software needs the input of the data cards, so the program demands that the users have much considerable knowledge, and need a long application time to study the software. This is very inconvenient for the general engineering analysis staff. One of the work is developing the applications of marine reactors serious accidents interface system. The purpose of development is on the basis of the original MELCOR software and introduce the form of the interface input for improving the interaction between the user and the program, it can result the evaluation system of the serious incidents is not only powerful but also easy to master.MELCOR software developed by Sandia National Laboratory in the United States is one of the most extensive tools that are used in the study of serious accident sequence. This paper use MELCOR software for simulating the break accident of marine reactors, and calculating from the happen of the reactor accident to the failure of the bottom of marine reactors. The analysis is intended to study the marine reactor accident process, and then provide the accident corresponding possible mitigation measures , which will help operators to promptly alleviate the consequences of the accident. The purpose of this paper is made MELCOR software to become the basic tools of marine reactor safety analysis and become the means for the safe operation of marine reactor and provide basic technical basis for management of marine reactor.
