| Water hydraulics has advantages of environmental-friendliness, non-flammability, cleanness, safety, readily availability, cheapness, and easily disposability. It is widely recognized that water hydraulics is a frontier research field and the hotspot of hydraulics research and design. The water hydraulic on/off solenoid valve is a widely-used hydraulic control element, and it is also the key control component for high-pressure water mist fire extinguishing system. The performances of the on/off valves play an important role in reliability and security of a fire extinguishing system.The main research contents of this paper are as follows:First, based on research results of water hydraulic components home and abroad, this paper puts forward the design program which is suitable for the demand of high-pressure water mist used for fire extinguishing system. The pilot-operated structure is adopted in this design,and disc valve is chosen for the main valve core and the pilot valve core. The technical difficulties in the design of water hydraulic components are analyzed, and corresponding solutions with the requirements for the on/off solenoid valves fully considered are put forward. The structure of the water hydraulic on/off valve is computed and designed. According to the physical and chemical characteristics of water, suitable materials are selected for the on/off valve.Second, the flow characteristics of the disc valve throttle are simulated by using commercial CFD software package FLUENT. According to the simulation results, the valve's structure is improved. In order to check the improved structure, further simulation is performed, and the simulation results indicate that the improved structure is successful. The cavitation flow through the disk valve is numerically investigated by using RNG k-s turbulence model combined with mass transfer equation, volume fraction equation and standard wall function. The air volume fraction distribution and the cavitation location are predicted.Finally, a sample of water hydraulic on/off valve is manufactured and experimental investigation is carried out, including the static test and the dynamic test. The experiment results are analyzed, and the performance parameters of the sample are obtained. The test results reveal that the valve sample has low open pressure, good on-off performance, zero leakage, and so the design requirements are satisfied well. |
