Before 1985, most of the 10 kV distribution system's connection mode in our country is radiation-based, supplemented by the radiation combined with a trunk. The ring network connection was rarely used. Circuit breaker is the main switching equipment in distribution system. Load switches were also rarely used. This kind of power supply has a lot of disadvantages. Once a fault somewhere, it will cause the entire line blackouts. And the blackouts time is long, the reliability is poor.Along with the rapid development of the market economy, high-rise buildings and large public buildings in the City have emerged, and the city functions increasingly improved and complicated. Thus, users increasingly demanding high reliability of the power supply. Many users require two or more lines of power supply. Especially in the coastal cities, population density increase (to be over 20,000 people / km2) and the improvement of city building density cause many troubles for laying lines, and complicate the power grid, make it hard to find and eliminate the fault soon. So it's inevitable to improve the traditional 10 kV distribution system.The reconstruction project of urban and rural network has been basically completed now. This project greatly raised the entire network's power supply ability, decreased the energy loss, and improved the power quantity and reliability. So how to guarantee the power reliability and increase the electricity sales gains a lot of concern of the power utility. To increase power supply, we must first ensure that the reliability of power supply and reduce the scope and timing of blackout. If one line is break up, does the line able to turn the load from other lines to reduce the economic losses and ensure the power supply?In order to effectively decrease the scope and timing of blackout, and increase the supply reliability and power supply, ring network can be used in the way of closed-loop operation. This power supply mode can fully use the existing resources of the network, and users can access two or more power supply. So we can greatly improving the reliability of electricity distribution network, while also saving many investments.This paper point out the advantages and disadvantages of ring network power supply program after analysis. The advantage is power supply reliability can be economically and effectively improved. But at the same time, it's difficult to meet the protection of the equipment, and has the problem of many times of short circuit impact on the fault point. Thus, this paper identifies a set of ring network's closed-loop operation of a research programs at first. Then gives a solution of the problems existing in the ring network operation, describe some experience of the ring network operation and summed up the choices or isolation method about the failure parts. So the research content of this paper has great practical values. At last, the paper analyzes the distribution network of the southern district in Guiyang, and demonstrated the feasibility of distribution network using ring network operation mode.
