With the rapid development of social economy and information technology, the demand for the power is becoming bigger and bigger, and the requirement of power supply reliability is getting higher and higher. As an important part of reliability of power supply, urban power supply reliability of distribution network has been paid much more attention. However, problems such as the increasing dramatically city loads and the great difficulty of additional power points has caused a certain impact on the power supply reliability of city distribution network. Therefore, there is an important theoretical and practical significance to deeply research the reliability of power supply.According to the different causes of power outage, this paper sum five factors that affect the power supply reliability of distribution network including the power supply capacity, network structure, equipments, technique and management level. Then each factor is analyzed separately on the distribution network reliability. Take Xinxiang distribution network as an example to sum up the main factors influencing Xinxiang power supply reliability.In terms of technology, the city distribution automation system is designed combined with the actual production, including the design of the distribution automation master station, power distribution terminal and distribution automation communication system. Then the power supply reliability index of typical radiant line is compared before and after the implementation of distribution automation. The results show that the implementation of distribution automation can improve the power supply reliability of distribution network effectively.In terms of power supply capacity, distribution network planning method based on power supply reliability is put forward. The method of medium voltage main line reliability assessment in the planning stage is used, and a mathematical model based on the reliability of power supply distribution network planning is established, this model sets the least comprehensive cost, including construction, network loss and outage cost. The forward and backward substitution method is used to calculate the power flow. This paper proposes the principle of coding, network initialization method, network judgment and repair methods, and discrete binary particle swarm optimization algorithm is used to calculate.At last, the paper proposes the construction scheme of Xinxiang distribution automation system and predict Xinxiang power supply reliability index after the implementation of distribution automation. Combined with the project of Xinxiang distribution network planning, using the method of distribution network planning which is given in the paper of Xinxiang HongQi district distribution network planning. From two aspects of economic index and reliability index, the plans about considering the power supply reliability and regardless of the power supply reliability are contrasted and analyzed. The result shows that the method can improve power supply reliability.
