In this paper, the designed, construction and test of a ETC(Electronic Toll Collection) control system is reported.The AVI&TC(Atuomatic Vehicle Indentification &Toll Collection) technology was used in this system.The main functions of the technology are AVI(Automatic Vehicle Indentification),AVC(Automatic Vechile Classification) and ATC(Automatic Toll Collection).Using the technology, the ETC system can achieve the key function of automatic vehicle toll collection without manual working and vehicle fast passing.The ETC system may contribute in full using traffic resources, releasing traffic jam and enhancing the using efficiency of transport system.The ETC system designed by the ETC standard of GB/T 20610—2006/ISO/TS 14904:2002,GB/T 20135—2006, GB/T 20851.1—2007, GB/T 20851.2—2007, GB/T 20851.3—2007, GB/T 20851.4—2007 and GB/T 20851.5—2007.The system is based on DSRC(Dedicated Short-Range Communication) technology.The using frequency is 5.8GHz.The system collect tolls by RSU(Road-Side Unit) and OBU(On-board Unit).The Information storage media is traffic information card of Chongqing.There are four unique points in our work.First, there are some successfully improvement at the efficiency of communication between ETC software system and RSU.The improvement is very important to the fast cxchanging of using the traffic information card of Chongqing, because the storage formatting of the information card is complexly.Second,a mothod for vehicle identification was put on table.The method identification the vehicle by using two vehicle sensor.The preliminary lab experiments of the method have been carried out.This may be a good beginning for practical using.Thirdly,the system have a posing module that the high speed machince bar and information screen were postposition, and the machine bar closed only there is a abnormal occurred.This module may improve the toll collection and vehicle passing speed.The max passing speed is 50km/h.Finally, a method of communication between ETC control system and information was put on table.The method code the candidate information to binary bitmap,and send the binary bitmap to information screen by serial port.The information screen using the binary bitmap turn on the LED screen. The system have a good transplantable characteristic.The system may be transplanted to Microsoft WindowsCE and Linux. The preliminary lab experiments and roadway experiements at Jiangnan station,Ernang station and Xiyong station of this system have been carried out.The preliminary results are proved to be promising.
