Equipment manufacturing industry, one of the main backbone of national economy, has complex product featured as high technology requirement and long duration of engineer design, process design and production. Assembly, as one of the main activities in manufacturing industry, has great effect on the product performances and the time to market.Traditional assembly process design depends on handwork and lack strong support of information technology, knowledge can not be accumulated and reused easily, lack proper network plan method, can not provide accurate information for downward system such as production and purchase.In order to solve the problem in assembly process design confronted by the equipment manufacturing industry, in this paper, embarking upon the process design optimization, BOM transition ,knowledge reuse ,resource conFig.uration, and network plan, a computer aided assembly process plan (CAAPP) software system is established to probe for the CAAPP application mode and related technology fit for huge complex machine product.In the last part of this paper, we take 6300T hot forge punch machine as a sample to testify the feasibility of the precept brought up.
