Compared to the conventional DC and AC drive system, the Switched Reluctance Drive takes an outstanding inherent speed-adjustable performance and energy-saving capability. It attracts more and more attentions, shows strong competition and has a bright future in commercial applications. In this thesis a 4-phases 8/6-pole Switched Reluctance Motor is studied and a control system based on DSP is designed.Firstly, the Switched Reluctance Drive system is introduced, including the basic construction, operating principle, main characteristics, the developing history and the researching trend.Secondly, three control methods are described on the base of that the current and torque is analyzed in details in the linear mathematical model.Thirdly, the nonlinear analysis of the SRM is achieved with FEM (Finite Element Method). The comparison of a designed SRM and the adopted SRM in the subject is made in the terms of the working performance and the torque-rotor position characteristics as well as the flux linkage-rotor position characteristics. The phase induction and terminal induction at maximum position and minimum position are calculated, respectively. In addition, the unilateral magnetic force of stator is calculated under the different current and the composite force is calculated at different eccentricity ratio. Finally, a drive system is designed according to the control strategy used in the drive system. The controller uses DSP TMS320LF2407A of TI Company as the main control unit. The open-loop control software is programmed. In addition, a closed-loop control algorithm and structure were presented. The modular program can make the program universal and readable. According to debugging of hardware circuit, control of Switched Reluctance drive with on load is attempted.
