The author briefly expresses the course of world's waterfront development , the domestic waterfront area construction experience and the development of the waterfront landscape necessities and possibilities, start in the the perspective of urban design , studys on the basis of waterfront city form, aims at the questions about the construction of waterfront area in China and abroad , puts forward some ways to solve problems and countermeasures.First of all, the author in this text compares Europe and the United States waterfront urban design and development of the situation, analyses of the status quo about China waterfront development and design, brings forward several issues about the current waterfront urban design of the city form , mainly for being lack of integrity, being lack of water, being Lack of continuity and being lack of ecological and so on.Then, the author in this paper combines with modern urban design theories and methods from the overall structure, open space, road traffic, entities landscape of waterfront, the four ways discussing urban design in the form of specific content, and Combines of actual cases to the urban design ideas.As a result ,urban design of waterfront area must be planned for the four aspects,for integration of the overall development framework and structure, establishment of urban waterfront open space system, adjustment of the road system, control of the waterfront skyline and architectural form.finally,by Combinning of the above form of urban space, the author puts forward some specific design methods, from the establishment of a whole city, integration of the waterfront open space, roads and waterfront walking integrated system, control of urban space contour lines, maintaining the continuity of history and culture etc, in the Hangzhou Canal river Urban Design.
