Application Of Vernacular Landscape Elements In Modern Garden

"Vernacular"is the reflection on regional feature and local culture, it is simple and flat,however, with a reasonable expression, It's easy to arise people's sympathy-ze.In recent years,with a faster urbanization development, larger population pressure, more environmental pollution,traditional culture and custom absence,it's a unprecedented impact to keep vernacular culture.It has been garden designer's responsibility to protect vernacular resource and find out vernacular characteristics.This article started from discussing the definition of vernacular landscapes, excavating their general content, basic characteristics and culture implication. After dividing the Vernacular Landscapes in pattern the author found Vernacular Landscape elements are obtained from specific regional production and life process, which are composed of "the thing" ,"the event" and "the conception".Then,the paper distinguished the difference between Vernacular Landscapes and Urban Landscapes, reached conclusions about the realistic meanings of applicating the vernacular elements in modern garden.The main part posed necessary and viable designing principles and tactics by asking how to put vernacular elements into modern garden,and approached concrete designing methods by analysing three aspects including form,culture and art. In consideration of different environments between two conditions-original vernacular and urban which lacked of vernacular to be more practical and feasible,the article took some vernacular designing cases as example and made a profound analysis based on the landscape designing, so as to search for specific tactics suitable for different regional conditions.At last, Based on making penetrating analysis of vernacular landscapes, this article posed a point that "China needs vernacular landscapes designing" to overview a prospect of vernacular landscapes designing by standing from people's needs, thinking tendency of designer and requirement of social construction.
