Contemporary "Chinese Residential" Design On The Translation Of Traditional Houses Space

This paper based its research from three aspects, recalled yesterday, watching now and looking into the future.It's research clues are ordered elements of space, space portfolio and mood of space. It mainly explores the translation of the design of contemporary "Chinese residential" to the space of traditional houses. This paper is divided into four parts. The first part is the older generation of architects' review of the traditional houses innovation, which reveals the traditional residential space is adapt to nowadays. It also derives the following chapter traditional houses spatial characteristics. The second part combines the traditional characteristics of residential space with contemporary residents' lifestyle to find the adaptability of the traditional residential space in nowadays. The third part is the focus of this paper. It summarized contemporary "Chinese residential" space's translation of the traditional residential space. The fourth part is the outlook of the developing tendency of contemporary "Chinese residential" design.
