The growing of the global aging, the advocating of the human rights, etc. let us can't ignore any group in the society, especially in the architectural design. With the development of the barrier-free design, taking more care of people in the society, the universal design came out meeting the needs of the times. The concept of the universal design was proposed by an American architect Ronald L. Mace, in the beginning of the 1980s. MACE thinks that the universal design should be fully accessible for everybody and without any future improved and special design. The first purpose is to supply a barrier-free environment for as many people as possible, and cover as wider range of human activities as possible. The idea of the universal design in the public building that used for social activities should be fully expressed, therefore the common points in the public building, the research on universal design in traffic space has become a focus of this paper.The article analyzed from the elements of the circulation space in public building and the users to find out the problems of the current buildings. To solve these specific problems, study and learn the "universal design" theory in western countries. The article also talked about "How to use the universal design in the circulation space in public building", from the theory source and the way of thinking, with the questionnaire survey of the users, in particular with the analyzed survey results of the existing public building traffic environment, proposed briefly the new ideas of the universal design in public building circulation space.
