The culture attribute of Chinese traditional gardening is an important conveyor of Chinese Culture, a significant part of Chinese traditional culture and a synergy of nature and arts. Gardening, from the perspective of substance, is different scene composed of buildings, hills, water and trees, whose structure also reflects the essential of Chinese painting. From the perspective of function, it is a composition of living, entertainment, relaxing, meeting and traveling. And from the psychological perspective, it has the function of deposition nurturing and culture education, and is a product of the highly developed civilization. Gardening has a function requirement, related with ideology, and has historical, scientific and artistic value.Gardens and gardening activity is an important phenomenon of human culture. The culture attribute of gardening has the same structure of society and is a form of human culture. Chinese gardening, different from any other gardening in the world, is that it does not aim to show the concrete image of the gardens. It seeks the image outside the image, in other words, the artistic conception. Artictic conception, in fact is a composition of the wright's sensibility, philosophy and image association. And it is also a recreation process of the appraiser's association and imagination. It includes all the material and human factors (calligraphy, painting, literature, sculpture, music, etc) and is a kind of great culture.General system theory has an important judgment that gardening is a system. It is not isolated but a composition correlated and communicated with other types of arts; a place to have other art. Therefore it is said to be an integrated arts museum. This strong nature of compatibility and integration provides convenience to the research. We can say that if without calligraphy, painting and literature, Chinese gardening would lose its completeness of gardening culture.Chinese traditional gardening is a kind of integrated arts. This article starts from the Chinese traditional culture within gardening to identify the theory basis, traditional view of nature, thinking method associated with culture, and further to analyze the modern characteristics in the art development. This article is analyze the nature of gardening culture. By studying the reflection of closely associated arts in the gardening, to understand the function of gardening in the integration of culture and creation of artistic conception. By using the examples of Suzhou tradition gardens, to have deep analysis of the nature of traditional gardening culture.With horizontal and vertical comparison, analysis, integration and with examples, from the culture association to study to gardening, based on perspectives of calligraphy, painting, literature to study their joint points with gardening, this article summarize the development of traditional gardening culture and its insight to modern gardening. It contribute beneficial experience and insight to set up modern gardening aesthetic system with national characteristics, provide theory basis for modern gardening design and important data for the fast development of modern gardening design.
