At present. There have built many middle and small arch dams in earthquakes area. The hidden danger phenomenon has become more prominently for analysis and researches of earthquake-resistance are not enough currently. So it was an important topic to appraise the dam's safety accurately and promptly.Base on Huo Jia arch dam which was built at the end of 70th last century as project background. The article comparative analysis the dam's dynamic properties and dynamic responses of three load cases using decomposition reaction spectral method in finite element software ANSYS, and summarizes the dynamic characters of the middle and small thin arch dam. Using the APDL language, the author has also developed the coupled static-dynamical program in ANSYS, and analyzed the arch dam under the critical load. At last, this article discussed that the hydrodynamic pressure influence the natural vibration frequency. Those works will provide scientific reference for Huo Jia arch dam's earthquake-resistance. And the rational results also provide a feasible way for the similar projects analysis in the future.
