The anti-seismic analysis of the structure is very important in the structural design. Inrecent years, Especially after the earthquake of WENCHUAN, the Nation modifies theCode for seismic design of buildings which strength the requirements of the structure’santi-seismic performance. In the computing the responses of the complexity and largestructures, The FEM spends a large amount of time and resource because of dividingmuch of elements. Basing on accurate Shape Function,Spectral element method (SEM)can get accurate dynamic responds when it divides one element in one component. In this thesis, Spectral element method is used to compute the dynamic responses ofthe space frame structure bearing in the seismic loads. The seismic loads are regard asuniform inertia forces which, on the basis of the principle of virtual work, are equivalentto the load of nodes. Through this method, the seismic loads can apply to the analysis ofthe dynamic responses using Spectral element method. In the process ofcomputing, using Spectral element method programs edited by MATLAB, we alsoconsider the damping of the structure. In the end, The responses of Spectral elementmethod are contrasted to the result of ANSYS.Through comparison, we can see, Spectral element method can solve the analysis ofthe dynamic responses bearing in seismic loads effectively. Contrast to finite elementmethod,The accuracy of the responses is high which the number of the divided elementsis least. The most obviously, the time and resources spending of the Spectral elementmethod is fewer than finite element method. The more the number of the elements of thefinite element method, the more obvious the advantage is. But spectral element methodhas its disadvantages. For example, it can not be used in elastic-plastic analysis and soon.
