Sansuci, located in Meishan, Sichuan, is a typical Scholar's Memorial Garden that memories three Chinese scholars– Su xun, Su shi, Su zhe. Sansuci had ever been the mansion of Su's, then altered into a memorial temple in Yuan dynasty. After about 700 hundred years'restoring and enlarging, it is preserved well and considered as the paradigm of Classical Garden in the west of Sichuan Basin. Deeply influenced by the Su's cultural spirit, Sansuci manifests itself in its special Garden Art. From the arrangement of landform to the planting of trees and flowers, and to the construction of the courtyard and buildings, the flavors of poetry and painting, along with the spirits of the Su's, pervade in every part of the garden.Based on the predecessor's production, the paper introduces and researches Sansuci by the way of self-experience, site-measuring and digital rendering, analyses and generalizes the Garden Theories and characteristics of Sansuci on the basis of garden elements and landscape sequences, so as to explore the esthetic origins of landscape architecture, history and culture, and their relationships.As far as methodology is concerned, the paper points out the defects in Chinese historical garden research in four respects– history, territory, type and esthetics, in which combines the territory (western Sichuan Basin), function (memorial) and style (scholar) together to analyze the individual case; when concerning the contents, the paper calls on the publics to pay more attentions to the integrity of historical celebrities'stories, spirits of them and the esthetic culture, on the other hand, it introduces the Classical Garden in the west of Sichuan Basin which is not familiar to the publics and designers, providing a helpful view in knowing the Chinese traditional garden. |
