With 1.14% of the whole land, 6.32% of the population, Yangtze River Delta contributed 21.01% of the country's GDP, 2004. The average population densities of rail and road are respectively 34% and 79%, compared with the country's, but the transportation densities are 330% and 233% of the country's. Apparently the present transport network can not meet the demand requirement and needs re-plan. Abstract as follows:1. Forecast of the traffic demands, including passenger demand forecast/ freight demand forecast and integrated mode of transport forecast. First of all, total demand must be predicted. Secondly, the demand should be divided into two categories: passenger demand and freight demand, this is related to the allocation of different traffic mode. And the last, is prediction of the traffic mode structure.2. The study of Yangtze River Delta road network scale. Obtained a reasonable region mileage of highway and road through two models. The two models above are detached from the traffic demand, but in this paper, all the research is done based on 2020-2030. We think that Yangtze River Delta will be ranked is the top developed regions of the world then, and the economic and transportation demand should be relatively stable. We are trying to research the Yangtze River Delta region through various socio-economic factors posed by internal demand, in the Yangtze River Delta to evaluate the long-term ideal size of the highway network.Of course, supply and demand should be combined. The idea of this paper is to test the predicted scale through the predicted demand. And found out that the present situation can not meet the requirement. Additionally, on one hand to test weather predicted supply could satisfy the demand, on the other hand to test whether there is building waste exist. Fortunately, it could satisfy, meanwhile almost no waste, only with a little spare.3. The study of the rail (including inner-city rail) scale of Yangtze River Delta through two models method.The study method of this chapter is similar to the chapter above. What is different is the fact that two forecasting results are greatly different. This paper use the predicted demand to judge the two results, get the appropriate scale through comparation and meanwhile doing corresponding adjustment.4. Network distribution. Distribute the above predicted scale to the whole land through "Important Nodes Model" and "Gravity Models". First obtained the importance value of each city and then take each value just like the gravity of 16 balls. Because of Law of Universal Gravitation, we could get the attraction value between each two cities. Namely, attractive size decides the layout of the road and railway network.
