In 1999, International Electrotechnical Commission adopted a standard named Train Communication Network(TCN), which provided a normal platform for data traffic of traction control, diagnostic information and passenger information etc. between locomotive. WTB (Wire Train Bus) is defined in TCN for interconnection of vehicles in a train. WTB fully considers the case of dynamic composition change and it can meet the requirement that vehicles maybe coupled or uncoupled frequently in daily operation.Internationally it is widespread for research and application of TCN and related products and equipments are mature. In our country some railway related universities and research laboratories also develop TCN related research separately and cooperatively. But we can't manage the pivotal technology of TCN bottom layer.This thesis is based on the research and developing project of MOR (Ministry of Railway)-"Research of bottom layers protocol and key technology of TCN". The thesis analyses WTB bottom layers protocol and pivotal technical details. On the basis of understanding WTB communication mechanism, a custom WTB transceiver IP (Intellectual Property) is designed. The design adopts Top-down design flow and combines Verilog HDL and diagram input. The IP component is divided to several realizable bottom module. Coding design is validated through simulation. The thesis adopts SOPC (System On a Programmable Chip) technology to integrate the custom WTB transceiver IP component and 32-bit Nios software processor into a system. The system is compiled and download to FPGA of hardware developing platform. A WTB node of bottom layers protocol is implemented. Through application validation, this node as a slave node can communicate with standard gateway to complete inauguration.The innovation of this thesis is to introduce the new technology SOPC to train communication network. The processor, IP component and memories integrate to Cyclone II EP2C8 FPGA.It makes easier for system to extend and upgrade.The thesis builds the base for promoting the application and design of TCN in our country.
