This paper does some research in the design of programmable waveform generator based on SOPC technology. In the process of design, EP2C8Q208C8 chip produced by Altera company is used as main chip. Attachment within the chip's 32-bit Nios II, combination of DDS and SOPC technology, and using the design method of verilog language software design hardware, develops a controllable arbitrary waveform generator equipments, with cost-effective and practicabilityThis design uses the combination of hardware and software manner realized the designing of programmable waveform generator. At first ,it briefly described the development status of programmable waveform generator, research purpose and the main contents of the research. Then, instroduced the relevanted technologies involvd in this project. After briefly introducting of the SOPC technology development, it proposed the overall design of programs and implementation principle. Then, made discusses focused on designing of the DDS module, and realized DDS's logic function on FPGA using Verilog description language. Then, it instructed the overall design programs and implementation principle of the system. After that, it entered in to the software design part the system. Based on completed customization of the NiosII system and system control programming, Linking with download line it made the system programming, download, debug and validation, and cured the program into FLASH.In the end, system test results were analyzed and improvement of shortcomings The experiment results show that, compared with the waveform generated by general Waveform generator, using the programmable waveform generator design based on SOPC has lots of advantages, such as waveform smooth, no glitches, the waveform stability, frequency stability , high resolution and so on; Simultaneously, it has its own superiority in System Upgrade as well as saving on hardware costs. What's more, the hardware circuit is Simple, and the output waveform changes with Waveform data in memory to store, so it can be easily applied in practical work.
