As the development of the economic society of our country, the need of hydrological information is put forward continually, the projects and contents of hydrographic monitoring are continuously increased, the ways and means of hydrographic monitoring and research, development and application of monitoring technology are bring up more and more high request. The original terminal of hydrographic monitoring cannot meet requirements. This paper uses the present technology which are embedded system and GPRS technology into hydrographic monitoring, and the wireless remote terminal of hydrographic monitoring is developed.At first, the general structure of terminal of hydrographic monitoring is given. Logical architecture and transmission protocol of GPRS are researched, based on this, some importment wireless modes are comparisoned in this paper, then a method of using GPRS to data transmission is proposed, and ARM and GR64 are used as hardware of hydrographic monitoring terminal. This paper Chooses S3C44B0X as arm processor which has high performance price ratio and Service Performance. Secondly, based on the deep analysis of structure and work flow of U-boot, hardware drivers and system initialization are completed. Under the premise of further research on uClinux kernel, the uClinux kernel is modified and compiled, and the uClinux kernel is ported on the S3C44B0X successfully. In this paper, dial up program of ppp is completed and a method is proposed to solve the problem of the connection of module of GPRS lost connection. The connection from GPRS network to internet is completed, and the data transmission from hydrographic monitoring terminal to GPRS service terminal is also completed. At last, through the experimental tests, the stability and reliability of this terminal are verified, and on the base of analysis of receive and transmit data, bit error rate and time delay meet requirements.This terminal solves the problem of decetralization and remoteness of monitoring points, and traditionnal methods which use the enormous investment and are difficult to establish the independent wirless spread spectrum system or the special meshwork in hydrology monitor commendably. And the data transmission mode of terminal is generality, so it has widely application value and market prospect.
