| Along with the flight recorder on the airplane successful utilization, the more and more countries also utilize this kind of technology on the vehicle to record travelling state data of the vehicle. The data, which are analyzed and studied, stored by the vehicle black box are used to help people to discover the reason of the accident and help Automobile Manufacturers to improve on the vehicle after the accident takes place. At the same time, driven by a lack of the uniform scientific crash data needed to make vehicle and highway transportation safer and reduce fatalities, both our country and the IEEE have created the "Vehicle travelling data recorder"(GB/T 19056-2003) standard in 2003 and IEEE 1616 standard of "the vehicle traveling data recorder" in 2004 separately.However, the current vehicle black boxs, which mostly adopt 8 bit or 16 bit MCU and assembly language, are used in our country and their application program are relatively sole when the embedded technology is widely used in various fields now. In order for the embedded technology used in the vehicle black box, a kind of vehicle, which satifies with our national's "Vehicle travelling data recorder"(GB/T 19056-2003) standard and is in line with the international IEEE 1616 standard of "the vehicle traveling data recorder", based on the embedded system is presented in this paper. The vehicle black box takes the 32 bit microprocessor of Samsung's S3C44b0X and the uClinux operation. At the same time, the USB Mass Storage device is adopted for the more convenient and fast communication between the vehicle black box and the PC.In this system, the top-down design strategy is taken up to implement the overall design of this system, hardware architecture and softerware architecture's design.
