The Strategy Study On Tianjin's Mutual Development Between City And Port

Most of the world's developed regions are coastal regions, and the development of these regions depends on the development of the coastal cities in them. Today, the ports increasingly become the coastal cities' vital competitive advantage. To realize mutual development between city and port is the not only the key to explore this advantage for Tianjin, but also the key to promote the whole region's development. Tianjin Port is the largest port in north China, it is at the junction of Beijing-Tianjin city zone and Bohai bay economical circle and also the nearest port to north and northwest inland area in china. Tianjin Port is Beijing and Tianjin's transportation terminal and the beginning of the Eurasian Continental Bridge. Tianjin City is an important city in north China and it has been proposed recently to make Tianjin become the economical centre of China in north by State Department in Tianjin development planning. There are many experience and issues in mutual development between Tianjin City and Tianjin Port. To study the mutual development situation between Tianjin City and Tianjin Port can summarize some experience and principle for coastal cities in China, especial for coastal cities in north.This article clears the background, signification and techno-route for this study in first chapter. In second chapter, this article summarize the economical contribution of ports to coastal cities, the modes of ports' promotion to cities, the support of cities to port, the phases of mutual development between city and port and the contradiction between city and port to get theoretical basic for Tianjin's mutual development between city and port; this chapter also summarize development experiences of some well-knowed coastal cities of the world for Tianjin. Based on theory about mutual development between City and Port and directed by the world coastal cities' development experience, the third chapter mainly introduces qualitative analysis to study the evolution, current situation and the conflict between mutual development of Tianjin City and Tianjin Port. This article also introduces quantitative analysis to study the correlation between Tianjin City and Tianjin Port and introduce comparative analysis to compare Tianjin to other coastal cities in China. The forth chapter proposes some development strategy for Tianjin to realize its mutual development between city and port. The last chapter summarize the innovation of this article, the main view and the problem still need to resolve.
