Study On Passenger Volume Forecasting Model And Type Choice Design Of BRT Station

As the node of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems, BRT station should meet the requirements of BRT vehicles' parking and passengers' aboarding and alighting. If the station is designed unreasonably, it would not meet the requirements of BRT vehicles' parking and passengers' aboarding and alighting, and also it would jeopardize the whole BRT systems, even it would let BRT station be the bottleneck of BRT corridor. Although there has been some production on BRT research abroad, the BRT was introduced into China recently, there has been little production in this field in China. Based on design of BRT station, this dissertation does some work as follows:(1) A large of papers about passenger volume forecasting and type choice design of BRT station both China and abroad are summarized.(2) Based on analysis of advantages and disadvantages of conventional four-stage passenger volume forecasting model, a new improved four-stage passenger volume forecasting model is proposed, which could be applied to forecasting BRT station passenger volume of entering and leaving the station. How to solve the model is also explained.(3) Based on three classification methods: geometrical outline of BRT station platform, location between BRT station and traffic crossing, whether or not the two sides of BRT station platform could be used to park, the BRT station different types are classified. Advantages and disadvantages of different kinds of BRT stations are analyzed, general methods of type choice design of BRT station are proposed.(4) The main facilities of BRT station are designed in detail, including: transition area of BRT station, the number of BRT station parking spaces, the width of BRT station platform, the length of BRT station, park-and-ride facilities of BRT station, the fare systems of BRT station, etc. Finally, other facilities of BRT station are simply designed.(5) Ganjiakou station of Fushi Road BRT system is set as an example. The passenger volume of entering and leaving the Ganjiakou station during peak hours is forecast. The type choice of Ganjiakou station is designed. And also, based on the predictive value of passenger volume, the main facilities of Ganjiakou station is designed in detail.
