Research On Planning And Design Of Urban Parking Guidance Signs

The planning and design of parking guidance signs is an important component in parking guidance information system of cities. With the rapid increase in the total number of motor vehicles, many cities abroad have developed PGIS in different degrees. It has proved that PGIS can figure out the problem effectively. The construction of PGIS in our country is in an important period of development at present. Therefore, it is an important task that we research the layout and design of parking guidance sign on the base of the domestic and foreign experience and the characteristics of transport development in our country.This paper relied on the country "973" program "The organization optimization and control of the urban transport system" (NO 2006CB705505) and Beijing traffic management bureau project "Central Business District Guiding Information System". Firstly this paper analyzes the current application and development trend of PGIS at detail, and researches the method and quantitative standards of parking subarea, it then proposes the classification model on three-level inducement in the process of analyzing how drivers seeking parking space; secondly combining the design principles and standards on parking guidance signs, it researches the methods and models of the layout and planning, and it optimizes the layout by simulation; thirdly, the paper establishes the evaluation system and gives the steps to optimize the layout; lastly, it connects to Beijing CBD Parking Guidance logo design and discusses the practical applications the on the above theory.The research is playing an important role in improving the design of induced screens and establishing a scientific and reliable method on the layout of parking guidance signs. Furthermore, it will lead the construction and promotion of PGIS in big cities, increase parking-induced effects and improve the problem on traffic jams and parking difficulties effectively.
