With the improvement of automobile velocity, the active safety of vehicle is more and more important and the performance test of automobile is put emphasis on all over the world. To meet the need of higher precision and better effectiveness, the performance test system for automobile based on GPS and gyro is studied in the thesis.NovAtel DL-4 plus receiver and ProPak-G2 receiver ,the product of NovAtel Company, could capture the GPS satellite signal quickly and regain it when the signal is interrupted, which is fit for the dynamic test. The XW-AHRS 5100 could be used in the test of bad environment, in which there is an iMEMS sensor with high reliability and stability. According to the recent test standards home and abroad, the dynamic performance test system of automobile based on the GPS and gyro which is consisted of power test, braking test, controllability and stability test and the mobile parameter test of vehicle, has been developed in the LabVIEW software environment with modularized programming and some instruments such as XW-AHRS 5100, NovAtel DL-4 plus receiver and ProPak-G2 receiver are used in this system.In the data processing of GPS and gyro, the transform of Gauss-Kruger is applied to change the longitude and latitude to the XY value in the plane coordinate, and the velocity and acceleration of vehicle can be calculated according to this; at the same time the hex datum coming from the XW-AHRS 5100 are decoded, which could tell the direction about the longitudinal axis of vehicle. The angle between this axis and velocity direction is the sideslip angle of automobile, from which the lateral velocity and longitudinal velocity could be worked out.The window of the system is beautiful and the operation of it is easy. When the system is run, the track of test process is displayed and the parameters of the automobile are showed both in digital type and graph type, which is convenient for the operator to monitor the process of the test. Compared the acceleration got from calculation with the value tested by the XW-AHRS 5100, they inosculate each other very well. Although there is some delay in the data processing which should be improved in the future, this system could be applied in the performance test of automobile.
